📱AI Advancements, #TTH Tour Update & Skills That’ll Keep You in the Game!🎯
If you’re not on this wave, what are you doing?
Tech peeps! Y’all already know what time it is!
Everybody’s good, right?! The #TTH bros and I are operating at our best levels yet—and we hope y’all are too.
Like clockwork, we’re back with another installment of the #TheTechHustle Newsletter 📰, bringing you more gems to help you reach that personal level of greatness you’ve set for yourself.
First, we’ll tap into a quick convo about Kubernetes and how it’s integrated into a lot of tech environments, as well as why you should know a thing or two about it.
And for the info you all want to know about: AI. There’s been a lot of news and movement in that space, of course. But, don’t worry, we’ll talk about it.
Adding to that, I’m going to be dropping knowledge about the skills and job opportunities—outside of software engineering—that’ll keep you in the game in this era of AI everything.
From there, I’ll take a few minutes to update y’all on where the team has been and what we’ve been doing on the #TTH nationwide tour.
As we begin to wrap it up, my man Raymond will bestow upon us the nuggets we need to be as competent as we can. Then, we’ll let D’Hustle bring it home with details about Apple’s plans for AI integration and other big news that’s recently hit the press.
You might want to pull out a pen and paper for this one!
As always: If you’re new here, welcome. If you’re true here, welcome back.
🗃️ Kubernetes: Hyper-scale Infrastructure & Support ↗
BobbyD 👨🏾💻:
Alright, first thing I want to talk to y’all about is Kubernetes. Have you heard of it?
Simply put, it’s a cluster orchestration system that helps support the running and operating of containers at hyperscale.
If you're not familiar with containers, the technology that’s behind it is called Docker, but the kernel modules and supporting features are Cgroups and Namespaces.
Now, what’s cool about Kubernetes is that it provides a way for you to isolate applications with their dependencies in a way that the application just thinks that it’s running by itself. That provides you a space so that you can quickly iterate, deploy, and service applications that are out in the environment in terms of production.
This is an example of a situation where there is just one application, but what if your environment has hundreds of applications and multiple servers? That’s a good amount of nodes and computers that are running the application.
So, say that you’re an engineer or administrator of these servers, what you don’t want to do is install the application on individual servers. Instead, you’d need to put them in containers so you can move them from one server to the next server, and that's where the idea of Kubernetes really flourishes because it’ll enable you to manage multiple instances of containers inside your environment while running them on multiple computers.
I know what you’re probably thinking: What about AI? Will it take over this, too?
Truth of the matter is that while AI may be ideal for handling functions like log analysis and detection, it would never be able to take on the full burden of this process. In other words, there’ll always be a need for a human component. 👨🏿💻
Hopefully you all can see that what I’m trying to do is show the value in learning how this type of stuff works. No doubt, this is worth putting on your radar if you don’t already have knowledge of Kubernetes and its features and advantages.

🤖AI Everything & Everywhere – You Levelin’ Up?
AI is here to stay.
I just want to reiterate that in case anyone still has doubts about its adoption.
I know y’all see just how fast AI is being integrated into everyday tools and platforms.
Listen, just here recently on the San Francisco leg of the #TTH tour (more on that shortly), D’Hustle and I got to experience an autonomous ride from Waymo. Two words: Game changer!
I mean, driverless cars have been around long enough for us to know what they are, but there’s some real momentum behind expanding the market. In my opinion, in the near future, there’ll be a lot more options for their use and they’ll be prevalent in many more cities/areas.
We are literally in the era of ‘AI everything. AI everywhere.’
And that’s cool. But being that we’re in the tech field, the other end of this is that we have to stay on our game by leveling up our skills.
What other skills should we be learning, BobbyD?
I appreciate you asking. Here’s a quick list of a few skills and opportunities (outside of software engineering) that may carry more weight and become more valuable during this era of AI:
Product Management
UX Design
Data Engineering
Data Science
Cybersecurity
Systems Engineering
Site Reliability Engineering
If you want to hear my full rationale on why I’m suggesting these skills/roles and opportunities for leveling up, check out Episode 41 of #TheTechHustle Podcast.
🗺️#TTH Tour Update + Other Highlights 📢
Miami. Atlanta. San Francisco. New York City.
What can I say?! The #TTH team is making its rounds, and we can’t wait to pull up to a city near you!
Over the past two months, the tour has taken us to Cali and NY. On the first stop, we had the pleasure of doing some work at the LinkedIn Headquarters with one of our partners, CodePath. Shout out to both companies; they are really doing their thing to help seasoned and upcoming talent in the tech space.
In terms my contribution to our CodePath partnership, I was brought in to run two workshops for early educated students who are in their sophomore year. The company has cohorts that it offers for students to sign up to get job opportunities and learn how the tech interview process goes.
So, you know me, I gave them the game on how they should prepare and the moves they should make when it’s time to interview for a software engineering position. My goal was to educate these young minds on the strategies, recommendations and style guides that they should be familiar with as they navigate their way to the next level in this tech journey.
>We also got to visit Google in Mountain View before heading over to Salesforce Tower where they put us up on the 36th, 37th, and 38th floors to work! Levels!
📍#TTH Tech Tour: Our next stop is Houston! We’ll be in attendance at the Black is Tech Conference happening August 19-24. If you’re in the area or are able to make your way that side, definitely consider coming through and shaking hands with us!
🔦 Member Spotlight: If you haven’t already, please take a few minutes to check out the July Member Spotlight writeup we did on Omar Stewart. Omar’s journey is a fascinating one, with his introduction to tech happening during his childhood when his parents worked in the field. Go show your peer some love and support!
🤝🏿#TTH Community: It’s official: We’re 220+ strong in the #TTH Skool Community! Shoutout to every single person who has joined us on this movement. It’s a pleasure to be in the company of such incredible talent. 🎉We know just how serious each of you are about your journey, and we’re determined to help you hit every next level you have in mind.
🎙️Backstage with BobbyD: Man, do we have some content for y’all! We were able to get some fire Backstage with BobbyD interviews done while in SF and NYC. We’ll be releasing them soon!
💡 Raymond’s Nuggets!
Sit back and enjoy this month’s rundown of the nuggets you need to know to do what you do in this field and in your daily lives, my friends.
Raymond Similien🤷🏾♂️:
ℹ️ qBittorrent 💾
If you were a LimeWire user back in the day, it’s possible you’ll love qBittorrent.
As a free, open-source, cross-platform option, qBittorrent is a reliable P2P BitTorrent client.
Though this one carries a bad rep for the illegal things some have decided to use it for, it’s still a suitable option for those who want to maybe make their own Plex server or share software or large files.
Fair warning: Be careful what you download!
ℹ️ DoorDash🥡(NOT recommended)⚠️🚨
Many of you aren’t going to want to hear this, but DoorDash has earned a big ‘Do Not Trust or Use’ place in my book.
According to recent reports, the company was found to have been recording users’ keystrokes while they were using the app and spying on what they were doing on their phones outside of the app.
Can you say privacy concerns? This is a major red flag and enough reason for me to recommend that others do not use the service.
Nevertheless, do with this info what you will.
ℹ️ PlugShare🔌
If you have an electric vehicle, you know how much time can go into planning your travels around charging and worrying about whether charging ports will be available wherever you’re going.
Well, consider that the old days. A site called PlugShare is making the process a thousand times easier.
As an EV charging station map, PlugShare shows you chargers all over the country and provides ratings and other details about the charger/port type. It even provides pictures and lets you filter options—including searches for free chargers!
You can use either the website or the mobile app. Just enter your zip code and vehicle type and stay a step ahead on planning your charging.
ℹ️ GOG.com (Good Old Games)🎮
Calling all the true gamers—this one is for you.
GOG.com (Good Old Games) is a digital distribution platform for classic and new games. But the best part is that you can download any game of your choosing on Windows, Mac, and Linux, ensuring your favorites are always accessible.
ℹ️ Show Recommendation: Dark Matter📺
If you’re into sci-fi and you have an Apple TV, I highly recommend you tune in and view the show Dark Matter.
And don’t worry, it’s far from the typical space-shippy sci-fi. It is exclusive to Apple TV, though. So, if you don’t have one, you might want to borrow your friend’s.
📰 DHustle’s News & Current Events (July)
DHustle💆🏽♂️:
Did it happen if it wasn’t in the news?!
Significant ‘Apple Intelligence’ Features Coming 2025: No surprise that Apple has its own version of AI features that will make their debut in the near future. Sources reveal that Apple will “introduce its most significant Apple Intelligence features” in 2025 alongside a Siri overhaul scheduled for the same timeframe. It was originally thought that the features would roll out at the launch of iOS18 this September. Nevertheless, the 2025 improvements will be related to Apple’s virtual assistant and include semantic indexing, personal context, app control, and on-screen awareness.
Major Sleep Tracking Upgrade – watchOS 11: If you’ve been waiting on an automatic sleep tracking feature on the Apple Watch, today is your lucky day. It is said that the feature is available on the first developer beta of watchOS11 that was recently released in early June. If you don’t know, this means that the Apple Watch will now automatically track your sleep without sleep mode. Yep, no manual input involved. Good move, Apple.
AI Sex Bot: You read that right. It’s been said that Chinese sex doll manufacturers are now ‘improving’ their products with ChatGPT-like AI technology that will enable dolls to create emotional connections with their users. If this is your thing, I’ll let you do your own research on it, but you heard it here first!
Apple’s AI Features Expected to Boost iPhone 16 Sales: Apple is back at it, and this time they are coming with the expectation that, as a result of the new AI features the company will soon introduce (think: Apple Intelligence), sales of iPhone 16 will “substantially outstrip” last year’s model. In fact, the company’s increased order of its A-series chip looks like it expects to sell somewhere in the ballpark of 10 million units. What are your thoughts? Is Apple’s sales forecast a little too optimistic?
AI-Driven Exoskeleton. If you haven’t already noticed, there are very few limits to AI. As we speak, an AI-powered exoskeleton is being developed by researchers at North Carolina State University. This new AI advancement is expected to be a game changer for those who suffer from mobility challenges. It is being said that it will be able to seamlessly adapt to its user. And the anticipated price tag for this one? Oh, anywhere between $50-$120k. So yeah, extremely affordable.
No Androids Allowed: Microsoft is now requiring that its Chinese staff members swap their Androids for iPhones. It is mandatory that Microsoft workers in China use the Microsoft Authenticator app which is now only accessible through iPhones. This is said to be the result of a strong security upgrade that Microsoft is putting in place.
…Not Goodbye, Just See You Later… 👋🏾
And just like that, it’s time to ride off into the sunset.
