Greatness.
There’s no script, and paths vary greatly.
…not to mention every step towards it means something different to each of us.
For the July #TTH Member Spotlight, we’re clapping it up for Omar Stewart.
Omar is an excellent example of how staying true to your path will reward you many times over.
Here’s what Omar told us about his ‘tech DNA,’ what he’s done and currently doing in the field, and where his goals are taking him.
Tell us about your tech journey so far.
My parents got me into computers pretty early, and when I was in high school, I got a job assembling PCs for a local store in NYC. In those days, I dabbled in HTML, Javascript, and even Flash / ActionScript. I ended up going to school for business but always stayed close to technology because it was just a part of my DNA. After college, I transitioned back to engineering. Focusing on full-stack app development and architecture. I have been doing it for many years and plan to do it for many more.
What field in tech are you pursuing?
I'm currently a full-stack engineer and architect. I'm also loving the state of DevOps and am learning more about platform engineering. I've been working with Kubernetes more and more and absolutely love it.
Why did you join #TTH, and what’s your favorite thing about being part of this community?
I love the vision and the leaders’ movement at #TheTechHustle. I've noticed that there's not enough community and support for the potential and talent that the underrepresented people in tech have to offer. This community is a major step towards curing that problem.
What does greatness mean to you?
Greatness is defined by how well you lift others. My biggest aspiration is to take on big technical challenges so that I can teach as many people as possible how to overcome.
What’s one thing you’ve learned in the last month that you believe will help propel you to tech greatness?
I've learned that there is no perfect solution— no person or company has it. Think about that before letting fear, doubt, and imposter syndrome consume your light.
Month after month, we’re reminded of just how amazing the #TTH community is!
Remember this: Anything you want is yours for the taking because nobody can dim your light or stop your hustle.
You’re exactly where you’re supposed to be, and your story is the best one yet!
Alright, who’s next?!

The goal of the Member Spotlight segment is to recognize #TTH members and their accomplishments, etc. across all stages of their tech journeys. We want to highlight the diversity of our membership, as demonstrated by the range of skill sets, experiences, knowledge, contributions, and perspectives within the #TTH community. This is our way of helping our members feel more connected as they learn from and more about one another.
