June 2024 Member Spotlight: Raymond Similien

This month’s spotlight features our very own Raymond Similien.
Raymond’s passion for tech coupled with his countless contributions to the #TTH community is a solid example of not only what greatness is but what greatness does.
We asked Raymond to share a few details about his journey and his favorite thing about this community, as well as what his goals are for his future in tech.

Tell us about your tech journey so far.
I received my associate’s in computer networking technology. In addition, I have racked up about seven IT certifications as well. My goal is to continue growing by obtaining more training through new certifications. I am working on a few projects now. Projects I am working on currently: I am upgrading a few different software platforms to their latest version. The challenges I’ve faced are getting my team to work together.
What field in tech are you pursuing?
I am pursuing learning more about cloud infrastructure.
Why did you join #TTH, and what’s your favorite thing about being part of this community?
I joined the #TheTechHustle community to expand my knowledge and experience in tech. Also, the networking aspect is great as well.
What does greatness mean to you?
Greatness, to me, means being respected by your peers. Someone mentioning your name in high regard as to "Raymond knows his stuff." It also means personal reflection and strong values and principles. Always strive to be great.
What’s one thing you’ve learned in the last month that you believe will help propel you to tech greatness?
In the last month, I've learned how to effectively use Azure. This skill was crucial because it allowed me to be more efficient in my role. Also, I’ve learned that you shouldn’t try to be a know-it-all. Be comfortable telling the person I don't know the answer, but I will find out and get back with you.
