🚨 PSA 🚨: AI Software Engineer 🤖
BobbyD 👨🏾💻:
Things are really heating up in the AI space—you know it, I know it.
Seems like every week there’s a new invention; but it’s this latest one that has really caught my attention because of the way it’s using automation to transform the software development landscape.
If you don’t know, I’m talking about the newest software engineer on the block aka Devin AI.
I genuinely feel like this is the one that is really going to challenge us for long-term growth in our careers, especially if you're a software engineer.
Put plainly, Devin AI is an AI software engineer that’s supposed to boost productivity hundred-fold by freeing human software engineers from the complex task of….well…software engineering.
The most impressive part is that Devin can mimic human function in the areas of code generation, problem solving / resolution, debugging, etc. We’re not talking about some fly-by-night AI project that won’t last. Nope. This fully autonomous and sophisticated AI solution is here to stay.
Want to see it in action? Here’s a short clip on Devin AI and its capabilities.
But, look, don’t be scared! You already know we’re going to tell you what you need to do to upskill yourself and adapt so AI doesn’t come for your seat.
SHAMELESS PLUG: It’s safe to say that #TheTechHustle Community 🤝🏽 is thriving! Check in with us and get the gems and knowledge you need to push you ahead in the tech game. Come join 140+ of your peers and meet and interact with like-minded techies. Let’s go!
Upskilling 🚀 — Because There’s Levels to This!
When it comes to AI, we really have to expect the unexpected.
At any moment, a new AI project could be introduced that could easily (and quickly) come for your role. And when/if that happens, AI will make it to where the human component becomes obsolete and the skill itself (ex: software engineering) becomes a thing of the past.
This being the case, we gotta upskill, y’all.
So, I recently had one of my mentees ask me about what she needs to do to make sure she’s able to keep up and compete with the era of AI that’s here and that’s yet to come.
That’s a legit question. The only option is to level up.
I want to tell y’all one way to do that.
I came across an article not too long ago that was talking about platform engineering, and it made me think about how there’ll always be a need for platform engineers—even with the advent and unprecedented rise and progression of AI.
Trust me when I tell you that this skill is not going away. Platform engineers will need to be around to develop the systems that AI is going to write and to automate some of the stuff that goes with it.
So, now it’s about determining what you need to do as a software engineer to make yourself more valuable in your organization and in the eyes of potential employers.
I’d advise learning the operating system and Linux. With these skills, you’ll be in high demand because you’ll be able to develop and manage these platforms.
💥 Boom…Upskill Activated…
Did Somebody Say Upskill?!
#TheTechHustle is creating a six-week cohort specifically focused on upskilling all you amazing tech hustlers in preparation for the era of AI that’s on its way. We’ll be teaching Linux operating systems to software engineers—or any engineers, really—and helping y’all develop skills at the lowest level first, then building our way up. Come Join US!
Backstage with BobbyD! 🎙️🎟️
Listen, the Backstage with BobbyD segment is hot!
Our viewers are loving the up-close-and-personal conversations we’re having with those who are seriously paving their own paths in tech.
Our two latest episodes feature tech trailblazer Portia Kibble Smith and Asia Taylor, an incredible tech mind who started as an intern and eventually worked her way up to being a tech force on Twitter’s compute team.
It’s always a pleasure to share space with such greatness.
There is no reason you shouldn’t be tuning in and hearing what these ladies have to say about their journeys and what they think are the skills and competencies required to thrive and survive in tech.

💡 Raymond’s Nuggets!
Handing the mic over to the one who shall never be called RayRay for this month’s nuggets that will help keep us in the game!
Raymond Similien🤷🏾♂️:
ℹ️ 10-Minute Mail 📧
10-Minute Mail is a free, anonymous, temporary email service that will literally spot you an email for 10 minutes.
It seems like a good option for a quick email need. For instance, a lot of us have a few digital subscriptions we’ve been avoiding because we don’t want to dish out our personal email.
Well, here’s the solution.
We just advise that you do not ever forget or misplace your password for those accounts. Otherwise, you’ll be locked out forever because the disposable email you used from 10-Minute Mail will be long gone.
ℹ️ Plex ▶️
If you ever felt like you needed a better way to discover movies or TV shows across Hulu, Netflix, etc. at the same time, you’ll more than likely benefit from having a Plex account.
Plex allows you to keep a single, unified list of movies and/or TV shows so you can “discover more, search faster, and get curated recommendations” all in one place.
This one could be a real time-saver.
ℹ️ Kodi ▶️
Kodi offers the type of home theater solution you didn’t know you needed.
Basically, it allows you to play every kind of media in one place: TV, movies, games, music, photos, and PVR.
You can even stream your favorite podcast, the #TTH podcast, and your favorite internet radio station if you feel like it.
Game changer.
Not to mention, it’s a cool alternative to Plex.
ℹ️ Duolingo 🗣️
If you’re ready to learn a new language in a way that’s easy and fun, check out Duolingo.
Duolingo offers ‘bite-size’ language lessons for over 40 languages, including Klingon, the constructed language that was spoken by the war-like humanoid alien species in Star Trek.
Practicing for 5-10 minutes a day on Duolingo will have you well on your way to adding another language to your repertoire, helping you reach bilingual or trilingual status in no time.
ℹ️ Bitwarden 🔒
Have a million passwords that you can’t keep up with?
You need a password manager.
Bitwarden allows you to store, generate, and share your passwords from any device and location.
Plans range from free to a little over $3 per month depending on how many users you want on your account.
📰 DHustle’s News & Current Events (May)
DHustle💆🏽♂️:
The news doesn’t stop!
No Account Needed for ChatGPT: OpenAI (creator of ChatGPT) announced at the beginning of April that an account will no longer be necessary to use its popular AI-powered chatbot. The move is said to be the result of the organization’s effort to make ChatGPT “broadly available so that people can experience the benefits of AI.” Could this also be a power move to further compete with Google Search that is and has always been free? We may soon know.
Gmail Turns 20: For the past two decades, Gmail has been serving us email goodness by helping us keep our personal and professional e-messages in order. Big shoutout to the email giant and all that it has accomplished while revolutionizing email. We look forward to the enhanced security measures that are reportedly being introduced just in time for this milestone.
Galaxy Watch 6, Pixel Watch Get Major Upgrade: Apple, of all sources, just released a major upgrade to the Shazam app. For smartwatch owners whose devices run on Google’s Wear OS software, this upgrade will allow them to recognize songs without using their phones.
New Data Transfer Feature for OnePlus Watch 2: OnePlus Watch 2 wearers can now transfer their health data to a new phone without needing to reset the device. Prior to now, such a transfer would require a full factory reset to complete. This new feature is a part of Wear OS 4.
Elon’s ‘Superhuman AI’ Prediction: Leave it to Elon Musk to predict that, come 2025, superhuman AI will be smarter than people. The tech billionaire’s bold estimation of AI’s capability essentially puts us one step closer to realizing his earlier claim that superintelligent AI would exist by the end of the decade. Nothing to see here, folks. Just Elon being Elon.
